Our Journey and Mission

Origins of the Financial Literacy Club (FinLit)
The Financial Literacy Club (FinLit) at Bergen County Technical High School, NJ began as a small group of 12 business-focused students. As word spread, our membership expanded to include students from diverse majors, such as Law and Justice, highlighting the widespread importance of financial education.

Growth and Non-Profit Status
With strategic support from Team Jump$tart and Next Gen Personal Finance, we transitioned into a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Initially, our efforts centered around workshops at local libraries, reaching over 80 kids in our first year. Today, we have over 100+ active members and are rapidly expanding, aiming to teach 1000 students this year across various libraries and schools in Bergen County.

Our Mission: Bridging the Financial Literacy Gap
In a state where 55% of schools lack financial literacy programs, our mission is to bridge this educational gap. We emphasize financial literacy as a critical life skill, inspiring schools to adopt financial education and teaching key concepts in personal finance, budgeting, and investing.

Support and Expansion
With generous backing from ConnectOne and other partners, we are building a strong foundation to equip the next generation with the knowledge to make informed financial decisions and achieve lifelong success.
